“The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide you’re not going to stay where you are.”

Each month I pull oracle cards to tune into the energy of the current lunar cycle. This 3-card reading reveals the energy of the lunar cycle that is now unfolding from April 16 to May 15. Together, the cards show the bigger picture of this lunar cycle’s theme – Renewal.

Card 1: Elder Butterfly

The lesson is shown in the first card, “Elder Butterfly – Change is here.” This is very much aligned with the theme of renewal. We are, and will all be, going through changes in this lunar cycle, whether big or small.

Often, as human beings, we are reluctant to change because our brains are hardwired to stay safe. It’s much easier (and safer) to remain in our comfort zone. However, the Elder Butterfly card reminds us that change is a part of the renewal process. We cannot go back to the same old routine, and we must be honest about which aspects of our lives are no longer aligned with where we want to move towards.

Take a moment to reflect on how you are feeling on the physical, emotional, mental, energetic, and spiritual levels. You don’t need to know how you are going to make changes yet—you just need to be aware. When you become aware of the gap between how you are currently feeling and how you want to feel, you can pose the question to the Universe to show you the next step.

One interesting question to reflect on is what you are currently allowing yourself to tolerate. Manifestation teacher Regan Hillyer shares that we do not attract what we desire—we attract what we tolerate. When we are able to raise our standards of tolerance from a place of self-love and self-respect, we take one step closer to what we want to manifest in our lives.

Card 2: Creative Cocooning

The second card, “Creative Cocooning,” shows the experience of this lunar cycle. This card reminds us that during the process of renewal, it is important to hold space for ourselves where we can continue to nourish our dreams and creativity.

It’s like the caterpillar slowly transforming inside its cocoon before it breaks through to become a butterfly. This is a highly creative time when new ideas may come to us, but we must pay attention to listen, so these ideas can be nurtured and brought to life later.

The eyes of the woman in the card are also closed, suggesting that this is a time to turn our attention inward. It is important to return to our sanctuary—both physically and on a soul level—to conserve our energy for the new to come.

Card 3: The Fountain

The third card shows the gift we receive from this experience of renewal – “The Fountain.” This card is about experiencing joy like a child, allowing ourselves to play and have fun. The fountain represents the essence of joy, where we can draw energy and inspiration from.

As we move through the changes of this lunar cycle, we must remember to return to our inner sanctuary to nourish our creativity and dreams. Doing so will open ourselves to experiencing more joy. This joy comes from giving ourselves permission to dream and to play. Have a laugh, and stop taking life too seriously. Even if we don’t have all the answers, we can trust that the Universe is here to support us. Stay open to the possibility of miracles entering your life.

 Self-Care for this Lunar Cycle

Self-care card: 33. Make a Vision Board
Card Deck: The Sacred Self-Care Oracle by Jill Pyle

The sacred self-care for this lunar cycle is to create a vision board. A vision board is a collection of images that represent what we want to manifest in our lives. There are many ways to create one, and if you’ve never tried it, I highly recommend this practice. It is a practice that helps us actively engage with what we desire in our lives, and images speak directly to our subconscious.

Lately, I’ve been loving Marie Diamond’s method of creating a vision board. You can find her video on how to create a vision board that actually works here: https://youtu.be/JaQlwrTqOvE?si=RpfvCqERGM0MWaV-

All in all, this lunar cycle feels like a time for internal changes and renewal. We are like caterpillars nestled within our own cocoon. Give yourself plenty of gentle, tender loving care and patience during this time of transformation. And remember—this is a time to allow your inner child to come out and play.

 Reflections for this Lunar Cycle

Take a quiet moment with yourself, and gently sit with these questions:

  • Where in my life am I being invited to change?
  • What am I currently tolerating that no longer feels aligned with who I am becoming?
  • What dreams or ideas are quietly forming within me at this time?
  • Where can I allow more play, joy, and lightness into my life?

There is no need to rush to find answers. Sit with these questions and allow the answers to come to you.

 Affirmation for this Lunar Cycle
It is safe for me to dream and have fun.

You may wish to repeat this affirmation during this lunar cycle whenever you need a reminder of your inner strength.

An Invitation to Trust Your Intuition

I recognize that my interpretation of the cards is shaped by my own personal experiences, and you may or may not resonate with everything I share. I find that sometimes by sharing what is unfolding in my life, others may find that they are going through something similar. It’s important to remember that you are not alone on this journey.

I highly encourage you to take a moment to look at the cards yourself and feel into the messages and energies they carry.

Notice what sensations arise in your body. Do you feel light or tense? What elements in the images draw your attention? What thoughts or emotions arise as you observe the cards? Do you feel drawn to or repelled by certain symbols or colors? What might that be reflecting for you?

Your intuition is your inner compass. My oracle card reading is simply an invitation for you to reflect, ponder, and explore what these messages might mean in your own life.

I do not claim to predict the future. Take what resonates with you and leave what does not.

Card reading is a great intuitive tool to help us find clarity and guidance, but ultimately you are the one who gets to decide and create the life you want to live.
